Shiv is one of the principal deities of Hinduism, the destroyer and transformer within the Trimurti. Worshipped every Monday and especially during Shravan month, Shiv represents the cycle of creation and dissolution, meditation, and liberation (moksha).

Simple Home Puja Guide
Wake before sunrise, bathe, and wear white or light-coloured clothes on Mondays.
Set up a Shivling or picture of Shiv in the puja space.
Begin with Abhishek — pour water, then milk, honey, curd, and ghee over the Shivling.
Offer Bel (Bilva) leaves — three-leafed, as they are especially dear to Shiv.
Offer white flowers (Dhatura, Aak), sandalwood paste, and ash (vibhuti).
Light a diya and incense (dhoop).
Recite the Shiv Panchakshara Mantra 'Om Namah Shivaya' 108 times.
Recite Shiv Chalisa or Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra if time permits.
Offer prasad — milk sweets, fruits, or panchamrit.
Observe a fast (vrat) on Mondays — eating only once after sunset.
